04/26/09   SLL mourns the loss of one player and wishes another a speedy return
If you drive by BP&W Park you can’t help but notice there is Yellow Ribbons on the Fence and a Memorial instead of the kids running bases and the sound of a ball game. That’s because Sealy Little League lost a former player and current player, while they wish the speedy return of another.

Friday night a Multi car crash took the lives of four while injuring two others. SLL Softball Major Riptide lost fellow player Adriana Boggon along with her Mother Barbara and Brother Jackson.

Vanessa Ortega a member of the Major Thunder was injured in the wreck.

All Softball and T-ball games have been canceled until Monday. Major, Minor and Pee Wee Baseball will return Thursday.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
The John Boggan Family Benefit account has been established @ Citizens State Bank in Sealy. John Boggan is the Husband to Barbara and father to Jackson and Adriana.
04/20/09   M.L.B. Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run Comes to Sealy Little League May 9th 1pm -until
Aquafina's Pitch Hit & Run provides youngsters across the country the opportunity to participate in the official baseball skills competition of Major League Baseball. Pitch, Hit & Run is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball. There is no registration fee, participation is free. Boys and girls compete together in four different age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 A birth certificate is required to participate. Age Determination Date is July 31, 2009.

Pitch, Hit & Run is designed to test three of the most fundamental aspects of baseball: batting, fielding/throwing and base-running. All of the skills are individually scored and each participant will accumulate a total score based on his or her combined performance.

The top individual scores will qualify for the Sectional level which will be held in Deer Park, Texas on May 16th. Winners of the Sectional competition will compete at Minute Maid Park to represent the Houston Astros in the National Finals.

Age groups are as follows: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14

The National Finals are held during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week, the 16 Finalists (four in each age group) will compete in the 2009 All-Star festivities at St. Louis' Busch Stadium as exclusive guests of Major League Baseball.

Pitch: Throwing a baseball at a designated "Strike Zone" 45 feet away.
Hit: Hitting a baseball from a stationary tee, as close as possible to the "center line" (directly away from home plate across second base into center field). Final score is determined from the location the ball initially lands, minus the distance from the "center line."
Run: Measuring a competitors speed in a sprint from between second and third base, around third, and across home plate. Sliding is not allowed, and both third base and home must be touched (160 feet total).
