About our league:

Sealy Little League has been a chartered and supportive member of Little League International since 1960. Our League fully endorses the Little League International philosophy and movement. The goals and philosophy within our organization are to enhance the environment and playing experience for the children of our community. Our organization believes utmost in fair play, good sportsmanship, and the growth of the youth participating in the League.

For 49 years, our league has provided an important, exciting, and positive developmental experience for countless children in our community. Over the span of those years, player safety, development, and growth as 'ball players and contributing members of the community have been bedrock principles of our League.

The following is an excerpt from the Little League International organization:

"Little League Baseball is a program of service to youth. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation. The movement is dedicated to helping children become good and decent citizens. It strives to inspire them with a goal and to enrich their lives toward the day when they must take their places in the world. It establishes for them rudiments of teamwork and fair play."

Our Philosophy:

Sealy Little League's primary objective is to implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority. These ideals will help to shape our children so they are strong and happy and more importantly, good citizens when they grow up.

Guiding Principles:

· Little League is a recreational youth sports program to be enjoyed by all players in the program.

· Each child who wishes to play ball should be entitled to do so regardless of skill, gender, or financial circumstances.

· Sealy focuses on increasing the involvement of players in Little League - providing opportunities to develop the fundamental skills necessary of the game, learn good sportsmanship and fair play, socialize with peers, develop leadership qualities and contribute to the team.

· A focus on the value of the team versus individual accomplishments will ensure that personal identity and integrity are not sacrificed for winning

· Praise and recognition are the most effective tools in inspiring an attitude of self-confidence which is key to development of the character of the individual.

· Good sportsmanship and courtesy are necessary for a harmonious and safe environment.

· The league personnel, parents, and all participants share the responsibility of making Little League a safe and wholesome activity.

· The competitiveness of the game increases as the player advances in Little League, from Tee-Ball, with the least competitiveness, to the Majors division in our league where the competitive drive is at a very high level. At no time in the program should an individual's self-esteem be sacrificed for a competitive advantage.
